Flourishing in learning and love
Welcome to Victoria C of E Infant and Nursery School. Our school is located in the centre of Berkhamsted and is very much a community school.
We owe our origins to the generosity and vision of Thomas Bourne (1656 - 1729), who lived in Berkhamsted and started what was then 'The Bourne School' for 20 boys and 10 girls from the town. The school has grown into a thriving and lively establishment, but we still remember Thomas Bourne and celebrate his birthday every year with a service in St. Peter's Church.
We have a strong family atmosphere at Victoria and children are welcomed from all faiths and none. Our aim is that all children learn well and achieve their full potential through a varied and creative curriculum and our excellent results were recognized by Ofsted (July 2009), when we were judged to be an outstanding school.
Victoria is also an Eco School, Healthy School and Fairtrade School and the children are encouraged and trained to take responsibility for their health and the environment. This and our affiliation to St. Peter's Church help to define the unique character of the school.
