Love School, Love Learning, Love God
Hello Victoria School Parents
As of Monday evening I will be officially given the role of Chair of the VSA, an exciting and daunting task at the same time. If you didn’t get to see my end of term plea for help and a bit about me I have put a shorter version at the end of this mail.
First things first though is the AGM – this will take place on Monday 26th September from 7.00pm in the school hall. Please attend this event as here we will have a handover report from the previous (and fabulous) chair Cathy Edmunds, you will meet the rest of the VSA team and we will discuss what the school needs funding for in this following academic year. It is also your opportunity to hear how you to get involved as this is a purely volunteer led group.
Secondly, we are looking for a volunteer now to take over the Cakes and Cookies fundraising initiative – the first one is on October 7th so need someone to say yes next week. For those of you that don’t know how it works each year every class is assigned one Friday to bring in cakes and cookies and we sell them in the playground. We also ask all classes to provide cakes and cookies for the Spring Fair and Sports Day. We need someone to manage the communications on this as well as make sure the tables are set up and collect all the monies. If you would like to do this please let Nicola Newstone know on firstname.lastname@example.org
Last but not least the first VSA meeting of the year will be held on October 6th starting at 8.00pm in the George Pub on the High Street. Anyone can attend this meeting and I would really like to get the numbers above the usual eight people that attend and give their time so please come along.
That’s all from me for now. Hope to see you on Monday at the AGM or if not October 6th!
Sadie GroomVSA Chair
With rather large shoes to fill due to the amazing Cathy Edmunds and team I am pleased to say that I will be chairing the VSA from September onwards. For those of you that don’t know me I am the Mum of Elliot who goes into Year 2 in the new term and I run a marketing agency called Bubble & Squeak.
You are probably wondering how and why I can do this role when I work full-time well… the how is due to Nicola Newstone agreeing to be the secretary, Katherine Cummins agreeing to stay on as treasurer and lots of people saying they will carry on their events that they looked after last year. It really is going to be a team effort and as I will only be doing it for one year I want to make sure we can raise as much money as possible.
The why – well it was going to have to close which I think is just crazy in a time when the VSA monies is now being used to buy essential items for our children’s schooling so I couldn’t let that happen. As the saying goes give a job to a busy person!
So what next? I would like to get as many ideas as possible on what you think works, doesn’t work and any new ideas that you have for fund raising – if you can email me on Sadie.email@example.com I will collate all of these and present them at the first meeting which will be held in September.
Secondly I think you are all aware that we need people to make the VSA events work and so if you would like to do a job either little or small please let Nicola know on firstname.lastname@example.org – we will be preparing a list of where we need help shortly and will be sending this out via individual emails in the holidays (so you can all agree to do things whilst sipping a cold beverage on holiday).
Well that is all from me for now – I once again thank Cathy and team for raising such a huge amount of money and hope to speak to many of you soon.
