Notices and Reminders

We have a very jam packed week ahead with our author visit on Wednesday and Jubilee Celebration on Friday. We are hoping as many of you as possible are able to take part in these events with a book signing by Julia Jarman on Wednesday 3 May at 2.45 (ish) in the hall and making a patchwork with your child on Friday 5 May from 2.00pm in the classrooms.

Beep Beep Day

On Wednesday, we took part in Beep Beep Day to highlight the importance of young children holding hands with an adult while walking near or crossing roads at safe places. The children really enjoyed the fun activities and pledged to hold hands when near or crossing a road. Sadly 10 young children (aged 7 or under) are killed or seriously injured on British roads every week making these events so important.

Jubilee Celebration

If you are able to attend next Friday, you can take your child/children home with you at 2.45pm when the session finishes. Children who are at ASC or parents/carers that are not able to make it, will finish at the usual time.

Reception Walk around Berkhamsted

Reception had a lovely walk around Berkhamsted looking at the buildings, landmarks and vehicles. All the children had lots of interesting questions and ideas as they walked around. They also got to practice their road safety skills from Beep Beep Day!

Parent Survey

Our school parent survey will be sent out (online) next week. Please take this opportunity to have your say about the school and once we have collected the results, we will share the findings with you. Thank you in advance for completing as we really want to hear from you about what is going well and find out areas for development.

The Lawton Trust Donation

We have exciting news! The school applied for funding from The Lawton Trust with our application being successful. This will enable us to redevelop and furnish our library and purchase new books for both classrooms, teaching resources and furniture for the library. Thank you to The Lawton Trust for this kind donation and the huge difference it will make to resourcing our reading offer.

Year 2 SATS

Year 2 will be completing their KS1 SATS during May. They are taken in a familiar environment, in smaller groups if needed and they are one part of the teacher assessment process.  For further information, this useful video 2020 Key Stage 1 tests - YouTube explains and gives examples of what the tests look like and how to help your child. As the Grammar test is optional, teachers may decide to only administer this if further evidence is needed for writing assessments. We are required to administer all SATS by Friday 26 May, if your child is absent when the class do any of the SAT papers, the teacher will ensure your child completes it before this deadline.
