Headteacher Message
As we near to the half term holiday, I have been reflecting on our new value of Responsibility, especially this week’s theme of taking responsibility for our time. At Victoria we have been using our time for ‘Wow’ days, International Language Day, Black History Month and the Great Big Green week to name a few. These extra curriculum activities add so much value to the children’s school experience alongside everyday lessons. I have enjoyed taking part with sculpting, launching paper aeroplanes with the classes and meeting families at the school gate, Quiz night and parents’ consultations.
I wish everyone a relaxing and enjoyable half term and look forward to seeing everyone back at Victoria on Monday 31 October.
Read With Your Child 3 November 2022 @ 9.15
We are excited to invite parents/carers to see reading and phonics in action across the school. You will get the opportunity to visit your child’s class and see how we teach reading skills at Victoria (including joining in the lesson to get the child’s perspective). Before visiting the classrooms there will be a brief introduction and phonic talk in the hall. After visiting the class there will be an informal Q and A session and a chance to see the reading books used for phonics. We hope lots of you will be able to come.
Book Donations and Wish List
We are currently updating our library books and to help with this we would be grateful for donations of any good quality picture books or chapter books suitable for children aged 3 to 7. Please bring any pre-loved books to the office.
Watch this space… as we are also going to be creating a wish list of new books for anyone who would like to buy a book for the library or reading corners in the classrooms.
Staffing Update
We would like to wish Miss Gordon all the best as she will be starting her maternity leave from Friday 21 October and Ms Davies will be teaching in Reception during this time with Miss Crawley.
We are delighted to have Miss Dunn back on Monday 31st October after recovering from her foot operation.
Finally, Mrs Hawkins who is currently working on Thursdays and Fridays will be permanently joining the office team 4 days a week from the start of December.
