At Victoria our aim is for every child to have a passion for reading and to become fluent readers, showing high levels of achievement and exhibit positive attitudes towards reading, especially reading for pleasure.

To ensure that all children reach their full potential across the curriculum, we take a consistent and rigorous approach to the teaching of reading, starting with a phonics scheme beginning in the early years. We want all children to consider themselves a reader and be able to independently explore genres and texts. We want our children to read widely and often and take part in discussions about their favourite texts. Throughout their school careers, we want to provide children with exciting reading experiences to encourage a love of reading.

Digital Reading Log

Learning with Parents is a UK charity with a vision for every child to be supported at home to fulfil their potential.

At Victoria we have set up the Learning with Parents digital reading log which makes reading fun and easy to record. It’s an inclusive way for schools and families to record reading, replacing physical paper reading records. You can record audio clips, submit photos and log all the different types of reading which takes place outside of school. For more details click on the link below.
