Children’s Magazines and Comics
We are looking at different ways to engage children with a love of reading and have found magazines or comics offers another fantastic reading opportunity. If you have any magazines or comics for 3–7-year-olds that you are able to donate, we would be really grateful. Please bring donations to the school office.
Little Wandle Live
Miss Stanford and I went to a Little Wandle Champion school in Harpenden to join other schools observing Little Wandle in action. It was great to see how all the time, training and effort we have put into Little Wandle matched what the champion school was doing. We came away with a few new tips for lessons and can’t wait to share them with the children.
Reception Class Visit to the library
The Reception children had a visit to Berkhamsted Library where they found out about how to take books out, how the self-scan works, and they got to explore the wide range of children's books available. It was lovely seeing all the children returning with a library book. Later this term we will be launching the summer reading challenge so look at for details after half term.

Big Green Week
As part of Berkhamsted’s Great Big Green Week, Rectory Lane Cemetery is once again running a FREE event for families on Sunday 15 June, between 10.00 and 13.00. An ideal Father's Day activity for the whole family! Drop in for an hour to their FREE Great Big Nature Hunt: knowledgeable guides are on hand to help you to discover different aspects of nature in their three green acres: bees, bugs, butterflies, newts... so much wildlife on your doorstep! Children can join in the hunt, do some crafting and enjoy a small reward at the end. Home-made refreshments available for all. The event is free, but the charity does welcome donations on the day to help look after this community space. Book tickets so they know to expect you.
DENS Woodland Trail – Saturday 21 June, Berkhamsted Castle
A scenic community-friendly walk through nature, choose from a 5 or 10-mile walk (or run) through beautiful woodland and countryside. Whether walking as a family, with friends, or enjoying some alone time outdoors, whilst supporting a local charity. More details at: www.dens.org.uk/trail. It’s a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy the outdoors, take on a challenge, and help make a difference in their community. Every step taken will directly support local people facing homelessness, poverty and social exclusion.

Ash - Otis for working really hard on his reading and phonics this week.
